Premarital Coaching

Most people would agree that a happy marriage is one of life's greatest treasures. Many brides and grooms spend months, maybe even years planning the perfect wedding and absolutely no time preparing for their marriage. Seems careless really when you consider the huge investment you are making financially and's for a LIFETIME!

THE BAD NEWS: Unfortunately the odds of making it today as a married couple are not good...with at least 50% of all marriages ending in divorce. The rates are even higher for 2nd marriages. And then there are the marriages that do last but in misery. In fact, studies estimate ONLY 15-25% of marriages are rated as satisfactory.

Most people (in the U.S) still choose marriage at some point in their life, although that gap is lessening. Coupling is natural and instinctual.

THE GOOD NEWS: Premarital Coaching increases your chances of staying married by 31%. The goal of premarital sessions is to 1) help a couple have more realistic expectations 2) increase better understanding of relationship dynamics and 3) learn how to continue growing their love and commitment for each other and 4) to prevent common mistakes that can build up resentments and kill love.

MORE GOOD NEWS: The materials used are based on years of research on what makes relationships successful and is not religious-based (but certainly does not conflict with any religious teachings).

Session are focused on teaching relationship skills (while you still really like each other) as well as, the attitudes needed to be successful in a long term marriage. It is much easier to prevent problems than to heal from them. Couples therapy is a lot of work not to mention, a lot more expensive. Coaching can be a fun way to enhance your relationship and get off to a great start.

Some couples may choose to have an optional assessment of strengths and and potential problem areas. This is totally optional and is not about evaluating whether a couple is compatible or to advise against a marriage. The assumption is they've already decided they are a good fit, that's why they are engaged! Now let's keep it that way!

EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS: Did you know that the State of West Virginia gives a discount on your marriage license if you take at least 4 hours of premarital counseling ? Nichole Webb, MA, LPC is a qualified provider.
